The German´s favourite toy - his car......
Now I may not be german - at least my passport still says that I am a Subject of Her Majesty the Queen - but I spend quite a large amount of my time in my car, driving along the Autobahns between consultations with customers and that means that my car has always been vital to me to be able to do my job.
On this page you´ll be able to read about a few of the cars it's been my pleasure - or in one case, misfortune - to own......
Initially I was going to write a tribute to Audi´s TDI motor (especially the first 110 BHP machine which powered my dearly departed A4) but I´ve not got any pictures of it - it got “shortened” by a Lorry driver who was looking for his cigarettes - well, they do say that smoking is deteramental to your health....
Long story short, my A4 ended up as the meat between two lorries and was written off; being so impressed with the car´s performance, I was going to buy another A4 but then BMW introduced the 3 series with a more powerful machine and what promised to be a fairly useful GPS navigation system complete with telematics and dynamic routing around traffic jams - the choice was made......
Since then, that Beemer has been sold - with some regret although my latest purchase has proven to be just as much fun to drive as was promised - “Freude am Fahren” - I´ll drink to that.....

I think he’s actually being too kind to them. My E Class Mercedes was the worst car I’ve ever had the misfortune of buying - luckily I managed to get rid of it fairly quickly and swapped to a Jaguar....
The only problem with the Jaguar was the outdated navigationsystem (no TMC - bearing in mind that BMW has been offering this since 1998!); coupled with this was the higher insurance premiums and the rigid service intervals meant that running it was nearly twice as expensive as the equivilant BMW. No longer requiring a four door saloon, I plumped for my dream car - the BMW 3 Series Coupé with M Sport package.... lovely.....
